Before you apply

Eligibility criteria.

General guidelines for internship applicants — specific openings may adjust these depending on project needs.

Who can apply

  • Currently enrolled BTech / BE (2rd year or above), MTech / MSc, or final-year undergraduate students in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related discipline
  • PhD students from other institutes seeking a short research collaboration or visiting internship
  • Solid foundation in one of: linear algebra & optimization, probability & statistics, or programming (Python / MATLAB / C++)
  • Prior coursework or project exposure to machine learning, algorithms, or numerical methods (preferred, not mandatory)
  • Genuine interest in at least one lab research area — evolutionary algorithms, swarm intelligence, decision sciences, or AI for healthcare
  • Able to commit to the internship full-time for its full duration, with regular check-ins with a lab mentor

Good to know

  • Minimum internship duration: 6 weeks; most projects run 8–12 weeks
  • Remote and on-campus internships are both considered, depending on the project
  • Internships are unpaid unless the applicant holds an external fellowship or institute stipend scheme
  • A completion certificate is issued at the end of a successfully completed internship
  • Selected applicants may be asked for a short video call before final confirmation
  • Due to limited mentoring capacity, we can only accept a small number of interns per cycle — a complete, specific application improves your chances
